Our Safety Advice

  • Always do business with people you can meet in person.

  • Never send money through Western Union, MoneyGram, or other anonymous payment systems.

  • Avoid sending money or products abroad.

  • Do not accept payments via checks.

  • Verify the identity of the person you’re dealing with through confirmed sources (name, address, and telephone number).

  • Keep records of all communication (emails, chat messages, listings, receipts).

  • If an offer looks “too good to be true,” it probably is — avoid it.

How to Recognize a Scam Attempt

Most scams have one or more of these warning signs:

  • The person is abroad or claims to be traveling abroad.

  • They refuse to meet you in person.

  • Payment is requested via Western Union, MoneyGram, or checks.

  • Messages are written in poor or broken language.

  • Texts appear copied and pasted.

  • The offer seems unusually cheap or unrealistic.
